2018 Calendar of Events

2018 brings a full training schedule to Paradaisu Aikikai. Members will have expanded training opportunities at the Livingston and ASU affiliate locations in Billings and Bozeman. Plan to attend as many of these events as possible.

Youth classes include Beginning, Intermediate and Advance sessions. Adult and Senior Youth students will have special training during single and multi-day seminars. (Note: certain events are designated open to all members, family and friends, while others have limitations)

Gasshuku will be held at each affiliated dojo. Members are encouraged to “pool” resources to make out of town events more affordable for all to attend.

Here are the major events scheduled for the upcoming year:

Kagami Biraki (New Year Celebration / Mirror Opening)

January 6, 2018 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.

“Kokyu” Training with Gregory Olson 6th dan:
We will go on a Bozeman “road trip” the last Saturday of each month, for essential aiki training. These morning sessions are from 8:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Cost: $10 mat fee per class participant paid to Big Sky Aikido of Bozeman.

Gasshuku (special training):

March 3 – Winter Session in Livingston with Sensei James Sterling 3rd dan $30 per person
April 20 – 22nd Bozeman Seminar – Chetan Prakash 6th dan

May 19 Spring Session in Livingston –Senior Youth & Adult No Mat Fee Cost
Late Summer/ Early Fall -Special Guest Instructor to be announced ** (Includes a Youth Only session)

Summer Aiki Kids Program:
8-Week Program June 20 – August 10, 2018 ($160 Non-Members)
*** Note this program is for Beginner Youth Students ONLY***

Japanese Meditation Garden Misogi & Picnic
August 15 – 4:30 p.m. Adult, Youth and Family are Welcome

Quarterly Exam/Demo:

Adult and youth students may test for ranking at the quarterly skill demonstrations.

Winter – November 16, 2018
Spring – May 30, 2018
Summer – August 15, 2018
Fall – September 28, 2018

(Adult 6th & 5th kyu and Youth 10th & 9th kyu levels are exempt from the quarterly requirement. Students may test for these ranks at anytime once they have reached the needed hours and skill proficiency.)


Paradaisu Aikikai will also perform a demonstration at the Livingston/Naganohara Sister Cities Program Annual Picnic. A date and time will be announced in August.

The Aikikai will also be doing a youth oriented demonstration through the Livingston School District . Details will be made available as they are confirmed.
